Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lakefront Lodge has been built specifically for backpacker travellers. It is situated on the shores of the lake, providing views of the mountains beyond. Opened early Jan 2005, the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge is built from wood and stone to blend into the landscape, and will comfortably sleep 72 with a variety of room sizes, as well as four & six bed dorms. Each Lake Front room has access to the deck, which has a large barbeque area and stunning lake views.

Facing the lake, the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge features a huge common room with lovely natural Macrocarpa wooden dining tables and an open fireplace, which will make the crisp winters of Mackenzie country much more pleasant! It also has TV, Internet café & Laundry and is a 10 minute stroll to the township, where there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants plus a well stocked supermarket to choose from.

There is so much to do at the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge – take a walk up to Mt John where the views over the lake & the Mackenzie country are spectacular. Mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, horse riding, scenic flights and even star gazing at night. All activities can be booked at the Lodge.
