Location Of The Lake Tekapo Holiday Park

The Lake Tekapo holiday park is situated off State Highway 8 in the Mackenzie Basin, halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown. The Lake Tekapo holiday park complex is set amongst mature trees on the picturesque shores of Lake Tekapo. Our location offers endless views of the ‘Church of the Good Shepard’ out across the famous turquoise lake and on to the surrounding mountains.

The Lake Tekapo holiday park offers easy access to the great boating activities that make Tekapo a favourite destination in the summer months. Activities such as water-skiing, wake boarding, swimming and fishing have kept our regulars coming back to the Lake Tekapo holiday park for years.

The area also offers many walks in the surrounding hills and forest. Mt John (which the camp is situated at the base of) offers spectacular views over Lake Tekapo and the area around it.

Lake Tekapo holiday park is also situated within a handy distance of Mt. Cook. Standing 3754 metres above sea level, Mt. Cook is New Zealand's highest peak and the national park that surrounds the mount offers a number of spectacular walks, tramps and mountain climbs.

Summer (December - March) is great time to take a Mackenzie alpine horse trek. The treks are available in 1/2, 1 or 2 hour rides. This is a great way to see Tekapo and learn about the area. Click here for some photos and a price list.

In the winter months (June-August) Lake Tekapo's own Roundhill Ski Field will be open for business. This provides a great family ski area situated 30 minutes drive from the Lake Tekapo holiday park. The Roundhill ski area is in viewing range, so there is no need to guess the snow conditions. We also have a naturally frozen ice skating rink right on the premises. This offers both daytime and nighttime ice-skating.
